The Quavers coax a luminous sound out of decayed samplers, walkmans, vibraphonette, footpedal loopers, tape echo violin and homespun harmonies. Like a space-age Carter Family, they weave low-tech electronics around songs sturdy enough to stand up even if the power goes out. They call it "porch techno".

News

Our annual New Year's Day show at Barbes in Brooklyn will happen at 7 PM Jan 1 2012. See ya there!

California Solo, a film by Marshall Lewy starring Robert Carlyle will premiere at Sundance 2012. The score is by T. Griffin and features violin by Catherine McRae.

Return, a film by Liza Johnson starring Linda Cardelini will Have it's theatrical release in February 2012. The score is by also T. Griffin and features violin by Catherine McRae. Notice a pattern?

Our collaboration with Academy-Award Nominated filmmaker Sam Green, UTOPIA IN FOUR MOVEMENTS will perform in Florida, Mexico City and Turkey, with Brendan Canry (Fugazi) filling in for Dennis Cronin, who's out on paternity leave right now (congratulations, Dennis!). We've done the show over 30 times, all over the world since premiering at Sundance in 2010. The Huffington Post called it "the most compelling screening of the entire 2010 Sundance Film Festival."

OK

Other news: YES we're still working on a new record! Recorded a bunch up in Montreal last summer, soundtracks ate it for the winter, but we're hoping to finish it up very soon.

T. Griffin did the original music for Tristan Patterson's film DragonSlayer, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the SXSW film festival and at Hot Docs. It was recorded on 4-track cassette. He also scored Liza Johnson's RETURN which bowed at Cannes '11 and stars Linda Cardelini and Michael Shannon.
